Clear your next Saturday afternoon, text your friends and dig out that wicker basket - it’s that time of year again! The humble picnic is a spring and summertime tradition, and after months spent at home we’re craving those park and beachside hangs with delish refreshments, cool tunes and deep chats more than ever.
Whether you’re heading to the park with friends, meeting up with a date or rolling out the rug in summer, make your next picnic worthy of your Insta grid with our tips for nailing your ‘fit.
You’ve arrived at your local park, your place is claimed and the charcuterie board is out. Your friend’s popping open a bottle of something and the chat is sparkling. You’re feeling chill, right? The last thing you want is to be tugging at a super short dress or tight skirt!
For 10/10 park picnicwear, we just can’t go past a relaxed pant or a cool pair of shorts. Trousers are huge this season and we’re into flared and wide-leg styles, knit-like textures and Instaworthy prints with a retro influence. A high-waist style also keeps us a little more comfy while sitting around - at least until we’ve polished off that half wheel of brie.
Weather a bit too hot for pants? Opt for raw-hemmed denim shorts, a denim playsuit or a cute co-ord set instead! You can’t go wrong with a matching top-and-shorts combo in a bright shade for summer and with that perfect roomy, not oversized fit.

Temperatures are rising outside and you’ve got a picnic planned by the water, or perhaps under a shady tree. Make sure you’ve got a hat, water and sunscreen - and a fierce look!
This season we refuse to compromise comfort for style, and the classic sundress is here to tick all our boxes. We love this summer hit for how practical and pretty it is, and fortunately for us there are so many on-trend styles, silhouettes, colours and prints to pick from.
For a classic sit-down picnic setup, we dig a flowy midi or maxi dress - think of the extra fabric as more cushioning! Continue the easy, breezy theme with a looser silhouette and straps over sleeves, or elasticated puff sleeves that can be worn on or off the shoulder.
For extra airiness, or just to show off more skin, opt for styles with a deep V-neckline, cut outs or a leg split. Or pick a floaty linen or gingham mini dress and get those legs popping.

So, you’re planning a weekend picnic with your SO or packing a basket for a first (or fourth) date. Cute! Why not inspire romance with a ‘fit they can’t take their eyes off?
Practicality is still key, and if you’re feeling shy around a new partner you may not want to go OTT. For the perfect balance of laid-back cool and sexy vibes, team straight leg jeans or denim shorts with a hot statement top. We’re thinking crop tops, bandeaus, halters and off-the-shoulder numbers with V-necklines, puff sleeves, tiny ties and other trendy details.
You can also achieve the same effect with a sultry two-piece set, or a crop top and maxi skirt with a thigh-high split. These spicy separates are perfect for lying around in AND flashing your desired amount of skin. Just make sure to pack a cute cardi in case it gets chilly later!

You’ve almost finished your picnic ‘fit, but it needs a little extra something. Take your sunny-day dress, flirty two-piece set or jeans-and-a-top combo to the next level with accessories as tasty as your al fresco treats. Slip on a boater hat, slide on some cat-eye or aviator shades and add some fun jewellery pieces like colourful beaded necklaces.
And don’t forget what’s on your feet. It’s all about mixing cuteness with comfort, so go for sneakers, sandals or a practical heel - we’re into one with a low wooden block at the back.
